It's the finest Nikon film body I've ever owned. I have shot rental F5 and F6 bodies which are the best they made but I can't justify the cost of the F6 as I shoot less than 20 rolls of film a year. I picked this one up on FM complete with the box and extra focusing screen for $215.

I know this forum is all about digital, but have any of you used the F5? For some reason I've been feeling a film itch lately, and think that an F100 or F5 would be the perfect way to scratch it. Have any of you used either of those before?

I used an F3hp for 25+ years and various other film Nikon SLRs too but the F3 was my favorite. Built like a brick and just great to handle and use. Only stopped using it when I got the Leica.

My D700 should be in tomorrow. How do I check the shutter count on my Mac?

Any EXIF viewer for Mac will work, the shutter count is embedded in the EXIF.

Is that just on Nikon DSLRs? Not Canon?

Nikon. Shutter count is not contained in the EXIF info on Canon bodies (at least not in plain languague).

I am really loving the D800 so far! Ergonomically I like it so much more than the 5D II as all the buttons seem well-placed for my needs. I did an architectural shoot with the 5D II and TS-E 24mm earlier this week and it amazes me how cumbersome the 5D II interface felt by comparison.

Below is with the 70-200mm VR II (handheld) at the park. The bird strikes me as having a pleasing 3d-quality to it. The bokeh isn't awesome, but it's satisfyingly nice. For the weekend I'm hoping to spend some quality time with my 24-70mm, so I gain more appreciation for that lens as well.

It's a nice luxury having 36mp to work with for cropping.

I'm posting SOOC, but I'm a bit nervous, as i lack skills in both composition, processing, and originality!
