What do you do about the planes? Edit them out? Leave them out? Don't shoot there? Just curious.... I've never used star trails to stack before, and here are my first two attempts.

If you find the frames that have the plane trails, you can paint over them with a thin black brush. The startrails program stacks the lightest pixels so the black doesn't show.

I forgot to say - Those are very nice. When were they taken ? Is the foreground lit by moonlight ?

Thanks - I'll give it a try!

They were taken at Arches National Park, and that's a half moon lighting the rocks. I put the images together in a 45 sec time lapse if your interested - LINK (external link)

Thanks again

Both are very nice and i really like the scenery you picked . Different from what i have seen in the past and brightness is just right . Some have a tendency to brighten the foreground too much but this is perfect for the image ! If you have Cs5 i would not use a black brush on that plane trail , i'd use content aware . One of the best things Adobe has added to their new PhotoShop software ! You can make it disappear without a trace !

Planes are a fact of life, and will screw up your best shots you spend hours on....I HATE THEM...but I guess you can erase them if you want, but oh they are frustrating especially when you watch it while you're taking the shot and you just know that went right thru it......
