I'd love to see some photographers who are really successful doing things a little different than everyone else. Creative, unique photographers that you like to follow to see what they will do next. If you could pick anyone on the planet to shoot your own wedding, who would it be? Thanks!

Hah. My wife and I have had this discussion many times, and if it were up to her, she'd hire Jonas Peterson. I can't say I disagree.

Cliff Mautner is one of my faves.

That said, I don't really follow anyone's blog or website to be honest with you.

I also really enjoy Cliff Mautner. Also Sal Cincotta, Jose Villa, White Haute, and Bambi Cantrell are four others who's work I enjoy looking at. None are really my style at all, but I still find them to be inspiring. Oh, and Elizabeth Medina (NOT Messina!). She's more "my style" and if I were to pick someone besides the person I did pick to shoot my wedding, it would be her. But she's based in Mexico.

I'm a fan of...
BrokenSocial
PeaceFire
NickSan
Qbx
ThorPhoto
Snakeman55
UMPhotography
numenorean

and a bunch of others.

The really interesting thing is that not only can I admire their work, but they'll critique mine and I can learn from them. Thanks for all that you've shared.

I have reciently fallen in LOVE with Emily Soto's work. She is not a wedding shooter. But I would hire her to do the formals/informals/engagement.

I wouldn't say that I "follow" anyone particularly closely...but here are a few standout photographers whose blogs I stop into every now and then.

I don't actually tend to follow wedding photographers for inspiration. I look a lot more at photographers from other genres: architecture, landscape, photojournalism, fashion etc and then look to translate some of those genres into what I do.

I don't follow anyone in particular as I don't aspire to have someone else shape my style. I feel like I have my style and, though I'm not one of those $10k photographers, I attract clients who seek me out because they very specifically like what I do. Me, too.

So what I'm interested in is inspiration not for style but for the new shot idea here and there: a new take on the rings or the dress, an interesting shot of a large wedding party, etc. Shots that I can incorporate into my repertoire and then shoot the way I'd shoot them.

I find scanning the picture sharing forum right here pertty much meets those needs.
