I just received a call from BuyDig about my order for the 5D3 Body. He told me that all camera's were requested to be returned back to Canon? Anyone else hear this? VERY frustrating considering it was supposed to be shipped out today! They said they refunded my money and said they won't know if they get a shipment for another two weeks. What's going on?!

I've seen it in a couple other forums as well. Haven't seen an official recall notice though.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

They gave me no info other than Canon requested all the cameras be sent back to them. WTF Canon, I've waited this long and you take it right back...

I had the same phone call from Beach Camera this morning. He told me the Canon rep said that they needed to return the whole shipment. The Beach rep said it was totally unprecedented, and that the Canon rep said they will be making an announcement next week if necessary.

Really stinks I wanted my 5d early next week :(. I'd rather wait than have a defective product though.

What about the people who currently HAVE their 5D3 from the first shipment? Are they just recalling the cameras that have been shipped recently, or is it ALL of them?

I'm not sure. I'd think it's safe to say, for now, that the current shipment may be the only one affected. Had it been all of them I'd hope they would have made a timely announcement, rather than waiting through the weekend. I suppose only time will tell though, it's not all that fair to speculate currently. Let's hope it's something small though!

Hopefully. Doesn't look good though, more fuel to the fire being built by those trying to knock the camera off its pedestal  Has a camera recall ever happened before by Canon in past models?

Don't think I've ever heard Canon recalling entire shipments.

There was the 5Dc mirror recall (in the sense that if you ship it in, it gets glued), and also AF concerns with some 1D mark III's. But never entire shipments.

I wonder if it's for the like leak issue that most consider a non or mild issue. If canon considers it an issue that's going to bug all of us that have the 5d already. Glad I still have 3 weeks left in my amazon return policy.

Umm, it's not April 1st, so this is interesting. Subscribing.

Exactly why I'm not the guy who stands in line overnight to be the first to buy something. Let them work out the kinks, then I'll happily buy it.
