You know what. Until Canon confirms this it is a rumor and thus I have moved the tread to the Rumors forum, its kinda completely utterly useless info anyway with all the off topic wishfull thinking etc so fits perfectly in the rumor forum......

Are you suggesting the fix is actually neutering/spaying of all new 5DIII to prevent the spread of some sort of defect?

It's obvious, the 5D3 and 1Dx have been canceled. Canon is about to release their ultimate system with a little help from a company that knows what they are doing.

To me, my 5DIII is perfect. I was going to buy a flash, but the low light is so good and I love shooting ambient, so I didn't even think about a flash anymore. Maybe I'll get it later for those fill flash in the sun shot when needed.

I was even contemplating on buying a 1Dx, but didn't feel the need to anymore.

Therefore, Canon realized that they had released a camera so close to the 1Dx that they are going to lose sales to the 1Dx. That's why the recall, so they can dumb down the AF and sensitivity, so at least the 1Dx can sell.

This is great news for early adopters. We will have good 5D3's and the new ones will be 5D2.5's. Now you can't buy a real 5D3, you'll have to settle for the 5D2.5 or the 1Dx. :-)

This had happened to the Playstation 3. The early adopters had a unit that played everything. The second shipments became buggy when trying to play older games because Sony removed some components so that you can't play Playstation 2 games. Then the later ones just didn't play any old games anymore. So people with older games had to go and buy another old console, which they were still selling at that time. A lot of people were pissed when they got it home and realized it.

There is an optimist in every crowd.
But the realist knows this is a 5D MK 2.5 that is not yet ready for prime time.
It has ERR 500 in adition to the others previously mentioned problems.
Err 500 is a Canon Customer Error when you pay $500 too much for bugs.

And if you don't use Eye-Fi? I've not gotten an error message on my camera in it's 4 weeks of life. I even weather sealing tested it yesterday in the crazy San Francisco weather. She deals with rain just fine. Say what you want to justify not getting the camera, but to some, it IS the perfect camera in many respects. It's versatile, it's fast enough for sports yet performs great at landscape and low light. It's light (relatively) and
it's AF is magical, I can get shots that I never would have dreamed of getting on my 60D's (and technically the 5D2's) 9 pt AF system.
If you don't need more than the 5D3, which many working photogs or serious enthusiast don't, this camera fits the bill for a great, versatile FF camera! ;)

Thanks. There is someone in Texas with a sense of humor. I am glad that I am in no hurry to get rid of my (working perfectly) Canon 5DMII.

Ah, here is some kindling for you. I just got off the phone with CPS. Apparently, the 5DII is still good enough so they are going to wait another year and then re-release the 5DIII.

My previous post was with sarcasm. But IMO, the 5D3 is a totally different camera from the 5D2. The only thing that is still 5D2 is the battery, but the 7D also uses it too, so it doesn't really count. I guess if you minus the (I) from the 5DIII you would get what's left from the 5DII.

The rest has been updated. :-)
