I need some advice or opinions on a versatile lens that I can keep on my camera for everyday use family pictures ex. I have a fisheye , nifty fifty , and a 70-200 mm zoom, so I need to fill the gap between my fishy and 50mm without breaking the bank. Any suggestions?

Tamron or Sigma 17-50. Tamron non-VC if you're on a budget, Sigma if you can spend a bit more.

I use one of these as an inexpensive walk-around lens that takes very nice pics. It'll work fine on crop or full frame... it just won't be very wide on crop.

I have a 40d, and my budget is below 300 for now. Thanks for the advice!
