Does anyone else have more samples to offer from this lens? I'm really on the fence personally.

I want to downsize my kit to the smallest lenses I can find, otherwise I'm looking at the X-Pro system as a replacement for my DSLRs.

I'd be using the 40 as an everyday lens and the 20 for wider compositions or shooting from the hip.

There seems to be a good number of folks using a 5D II and others using Nikon film cameras.

I have a flickr set you can look through if you feel like it.

Very nice.

Just curious since I see you shoot w/Nikon, did you switch from Canon? And if so, what drew you to the Nikon?

This 40mm is part of the reason I upgraded from a 50d to the 5D II. It was an interesting FOV on a 1.6x body, but this lens seems to perform very well on full-frame.

Thanks for the compliment! Yep I made the switch from Canon to Nikon. I had a 5d classic when I made the jump. It's hard for me to put a reason on why I switched actually. I came across a great deal on a D700 with a grip and just started to feel that "itch", so I sold all of my Canon stuff and made the switch. One year later I'm still pleased with my purchase, but knowing what I know now I probably wouldn't do it over again. I DO really like the fact that I can use the full line of Ai-s lenses in aperture priority mode with full 3d metering. As far as the 40mm goes, I'm really pleased with it. It's very low key and doesn't draw any attention, and the image quality is pretty great for the price and simplicity.

Really love this shot. And the vignetting really makes this pop. Indeed, a wonderful lens.

Just realized I had only posted here one time so far, that is ridiculous. I love this lens, when I head out with the 70-200 or 120-300 I can throw this one in a pocket and if I need a wider shot I am ready to go. Makes for a great walk-around lens too keeps the kit size as small as possible.

Here are a few I shot on our trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. All were shot with a new-to-me EOS-3 on Fuji Velvia 100F slide film and scanned.

Very interesting lens. I'd love to see more reviews. How does it compare in terms of image quality and sharpness versus the EF50 f/1.4?
