Rick. thanks for the list. I find it very surprising that none of the BB stores that are closing are in PA. I went into one last week (there are four (4) within thirty miles of my house), and saw a 5x7 card for the 5DMIII. I asked the young man if I could see one. He told me that they only got the card, but not the camera. lol.

the one closing here in east Palo alto is not that old store. Never been there as there is one very close to my house. Bad for overall economy as lot of folks will loose jobs. Well the ceo also got the boot but he will still collect his big paycheck. I don't know what they teaching is US business schools. It just wasn't like this when I moved to this great country.

East Palo Alto, I lived in Palo Alto for 30 years - have they managed to civilize EPA?

I love best buy. Granted I'll buy most stuff not from them but when it comes to certain things I love them.

You just cannot beat 18 months 0% financing on electronics... hard to find another place that does it, this is how I've bought alot of things. Granted I pay them off after a few months anyway at least I have that option.

I grew up near the Addison, IL one that is closing. I was actually there last Friday and it was a bit of a ghost town. I don't shop at Best Buy when I'm actually shopping for my electronics EXCEPT when I need something same day or a hard to find item. I bought my D800 at a Best Buy and although I found one elsewhere after that it allowed me to have one the day it was released. Same with the D7000 when it was first released.

Terrible service and even worse prices. I went in there once to buy an iMac. Stood around for 20 minutes looking for help. Finally I gave up and made the hour ride to my closest apple store. They should be all over consumers that are willing to pay their inflated prices.

Depends on what your buying. For example I'm going there today to pick up a 3TB usb drive. Price is identical to Amazon $150. Ya I gotta pay about 12 bucks in tax but I also get 6 months financing free :) Ya, I can pay cash but why dish out so much at once.

I don't hate them, but they are not awful here in VA. I like having the option of having a store close by I can get a few things. Less and less stores are around who stock things I need in a pinch.

Penn Camera, which was a really great store in it's time, just got bought out. Sad. And I do buy most of the things I need on the net these days. Door to door service. ;)

much better compared to when I moved here about 20 yrs ago. Ikea moved there so did other stores. Some townhouses as across the street in Palo alto that 600k will be $1million.

I certainly don't rave about my BB experiences as their employees can be totally clueless at times. But I have manged to snag some fairly nice deals there on Big Screen TV's and Blu ray players.

They traded out my sons dead Xbox with a brand new replacement, no questions asked.

I have a best buy near work that I have used to get replacement DVD drives and video cards when one of the computers I support fails. I would rather go to Micro Center, but the trip there is a little bit longer. I have never been too impressed with the knowledge of the sales staff, but I don't have any major gripe about BB.

I am lucky in that there is a great store in my area - Keeble and Shuchat in Palo Alto. Their prices are beatable online, but they have seemingly everything in stock, they have some of the most knowledgeable people around, I have never encountered "attitude" there, and they run a lot of classes and workshops. I prefer to shop locally if possible, and I would much rather go to a specialty store than a big box place. (I refuse to step foot into Wally Mart.)

There used to be a nice Mom and Pop camera store in Mountain View, and I remember buying lots of things at Denevi Camera. Good thing I don't live next to Adorama or B&H!

I don't hate them, but the last three times I was there - I had a dozen people in blue shirts ask if I needed help - they are really annoying - but when I get to the checkout - there is only 1 open and a lineup of 12-15 people waiting. I guess BBY doesn't see the problem. They overload on people with very little knowledge and then make me wait to give them my money.

I haven't shopped at Best Buy since the early 2000s, or about ten years ago I guess.

I have not bought anything in Best Buy in years, did not even go to their Black Friday sale. They have reduced the size of their CD inventory it is not worth the effort to look for anything and should we not forget the fiasco of the two different web pages with lower prices on the outside and higher prices when in the store. They deserve to die a slow agonizing death! Way to go BB....

I got both my 5D Mark II cameras at Best Buy back when there was a great deal with Bing cash back and was able to combine the 10-12% off coupon they usually have. Add 18 months interest fee financing (if paid off in that timeframe) and even after tax I had a great deal.

Other than experiences like that I only shop there for some small items that I need asap. The store nearest to me is closing, which is sad, especially since it has only been there about two years.
