Simple Question:

Can you get the 20% off lenses and speedlights *without* purchasing a camera?

No you cannot. Your options are to buy the camera with your lens/speed light and then sell the camera or you could return it to Canon. If you return it you would be responsible for return shipping unless there was something wrong with the camera(ie: dust in the viewfinder etc)

I don't know if that has changed, but many believe the 5DII was taken out of the program because of abuse/buying to sell for profit. I wouldn't be against Canon limiting 5DII sales to 1 per person/year.

Was my second time in two years to use the program. Got a 5d2 but would have loved to get a 70-200L like dachness. Am surprised to see it back in the program.

this thread became alive once 5DM2 came back on board. Welcome to the FF world for those who pick one up (if is it your first time).

? The base price is the refurb price on the canon website. Take 20% off of that.

Or, see the posts from earlier indicating a quoted price of $1407 + tax and shipping.

Just to give everyone an update.

I received my 60D and 70-200 IS II last night. 60D has ~450 shutter count and ~450 live views (via magic lantern). This 60D is in better shape than my last one which had a feint scuff mark on the LCD hinge, this one is pristine. There is one problem however. My Sigma 17-50 2.8 OS will not focus, it focus hunts almost constantly and occasionally will lock focus after a second. The 70-200 focuses fine so I don't really know what's going on. The 70-200 is in excellent condition as well, the hood does have some scuff marks on the exterior.

I have a replacement sigma on the way from amazon. It should arrive Friday. If that doesn't resolve it I may send the body back for a new one.

The 5D2 price through CLP should be $1,759.20 - 20% = 1407.36 + tax + shipping
Is this going to kill the second hand 5D2 market?

Doubtful. Canon will have difficulty keeping them available at this price. Demand will keep the price up. If one is patient, they can wait till they come in @ Canon and pick it up at that price. This should not absolutely tank the price (but it definitely doens't help the cause)

Thank you for sharing your findings. Would you happen to know which version of 2X extender is in the program? There is a 2X II and 2XIII.

Original post has been updated to add 5DMII and lens/flash options.

Sorry for the delay (I hate it when the real world gets in the way of POTN!!) :D
