My wife is a licensed hair and make-up artist.. So we plan the whole shoot out together.. We sit down and go over ideas. Look at ideas from the models and much more. Often I will let her book the models and everything else.

My parents live with me ( because of health reasons) and they are ok with it. I had kayden running around here naked last night eatting dinner.. So, we had Kayden Love, myself and Alice ( the wife / make-up artist).. all at the dinner table eatting.. .and My dad.. in the kitchen talking to us ( he was cooking something).. My dad ran a photo processing lab for years. He has seen my work in galleries, sites, books, mags, and every other place you can think of. So having naked girls running around is no different to him, me, my wife,..or anyone else.. than an accountant having books.. Im am lucky that I can be really selective on who I shoot, and I generally don't shoot any models I wouldn't want around my family. If I work with a model, I trust her, she trust me.. My family and my wife trust me.. and I trust them..

Win, win situation! Good for you Richard.

7 years married and started to do a couple shoots last year and the first one this year - next weekend.

I'm a graphic designer and I've told her that I want to learn photography for my design and web purposes. But if I can make money from it then that would be great too for smaller events. Should have started this when I first began doing graphic designs then I guess she couldn't say much.

So she is not all that fond of it either. Like someone said previous, she asked why don't I shoot a building, animal, plant or men. Followed by what if she took photos of guys and I told her go ahead. I'm doing the same with girls so if she really wants to learn then go ahead. It could only benefit both of us in the long run. I told her I don't mind shooting men then asked her where does she ever see a half naked men selling a beer or next to a car? Girls sell more than guys.. bottom line. In my opinion.

Then asked why I don't shoot family. Which I am all for but when it comes to female cousins, you really can't do much of certain poses or wear certain clothes because of their parents (my aunts and uncles). Then asked me if she can come which I said yes but did tell her that she doesn't say or do anything that will put a dent in my reputation or make the model feel uncomfortable.

She sees the photos I take and I don't hide them. She can't say I'm hiding something. By the way I have also taken photos of her as she is my personal model and I can practice with her with communicating and directing a model. So bottom line I guess she has to trust me that I will not do anything that will ruin my marriage as I do have two boys. Don't want to deal with the whole child support thing! lol

I just made two different shirts for the model to wear one is a mid v neck type shirt... which I wanted to get a bit lower but because of her I didn't at least not for now. but want to start with baby steps then get to more real nicer shirts (sexy). I also got a "muscle shirt" with some graphic on the front and back... of course I also want to make one for her which I told her... kind of have her participate for a shoot of her with sexy clothes. hopefully it will serve as some icebreaker.

It will not be much of a deal since I am planning on doing an outdoor shoot. But I guess if I do it more often than it will help.

the only wardrobe I have for models is a pair of boots left over from a group shoot. Otherwise---THEY supply their own clothing. That's the last thing I need is a wardrobe for models.

Hawk, since income is from graphic and web work... I began to create tshirts of my own designs. That is the only reason why I created these shirts... but yeah I agree with you and let the models bring their own wardrobe.

I've read a good number of these and I must say it's a huge range between couples.

Starting off with a little about myself, 19 year old full time college student. While most older people think that 19 year olds only have sex or porn on their minds. The human body is just incredible and should be shown off. that aside...

I've been dating my wonderful girlfriend since our sophomore year in high-school. (sophomore in college now). While she's very camera shy, I manage to get a good one every once in a while. Through high and low she's been there for me and supported me on just about everything (99%+) of the things I've been interested in.

I've become a lot more into photography and I wanted to venture into more 'glamour' style photography. I held the conversation back for a long long time because I was hesitant to hear her response. But I finally just was like, what the heck if she says no... let it go. She had a lot of questions and was a little skeptical, but was overall okay with it. Her main thing was she wanted to either be able to come to the shoot or to see pictures. I trust her 100% around anyone and she trusts me the same which is why I think she ultimately said she doesn't mind. As others have said, trust builds relationships and there just anyone that came come within a million miles of being the same as her.

I've also had the.. would you be a model for me?
her response: I am NOT a model OR why, I'm not pretty. <--- easiest to say BULL CRAP to.

Anyone else here think it's really fun to have a sexy/fun shoot with a SO? Some of my best shots of her are from when she wasn't paying attention.

I've shot models without my wife (e.g., Dani (external link) here and Paige (external link) here), but I prefer having her along, simply because we work as a team. Now that we both do all of our shoots together it would have to be a pretty unusual circumstance for me to fly solo, regardless of who the subject was.

Phil, were you doing this before you met, or did you start after you met? That seems to set the stage for some of us too. I started shooting after we met and had kids.

I've known my wife for 33 years and married for 31 this June. She is absolutely OK with this. In fact she encourages it. Hey, it's all about the money guys! The wives need to understand that part of it. Besides, she knows me well enough to know I'm harmless! LOL

So far she has been my only model. (when she's not working or sleeping. She's a night shift ER nurse.) My biggest problem at the moment is shooting room. My house is just to small to shoot in, and my basement ceiling is just 7 foot tall. Hard to get things arranged to not include the ceiling. I'm getting ready to remedy that situation soon I hope! I have 24 ft wide and 14 ft tall attic space that's going to get converted into a studio. :D

I'm glad to see this thread. Some interesting posts here! ;)

im glad i saw this post...ive been dating my gf for a year...2 if you count the year we werent official...she didnt care much about me shooting models and half naked women...but after that magical one year mark, it shifted....and she is the one who i will marry in the future, no doubt about it....and she does trust me, there are no trust issues

at times she doesnt care, and then she does...she asks why i dont take photos of her...and my honest answer which i told her is that i dont want to mix my photography with my relationship because then i have to judge, make adjustments in photoshop, fix this, fix that, and if she doesnt like it, then i have to fix what she doesnt like....i just dont want to get into that, as i know this will lead to arguments...am i wrong? I could care less about what other model i shoot, i can judge them for myself all i want and they wont know about it...i dont know if this is coming out the way i want it to, but that sums it up.

I have been saving a shoot for my gf for months now and she knows this and she doesnt want to do the shoot any time i ask her to....so she doesnt have the drive for it either, but then it gets brought up every now and then about me not shooting her...any advice?
