LOVE all these wonderful GS pictures! Last December we found out that our 8 yr old GSD, Skylar, has Degenerative Myelopathy. He is slowly becoming paralyzed in his back end. Right now his left side is worse. Last month we got him Walkin Wheels, and now he can go on walks and play with our other GSD, Stormy (2 yrs old). I know our time with him is limited, but we will enjoy the time we have left!

a rare outing with the 50mm a few days ago.... Zeus's patience held up well for about 30 seconds and then it was time to resume our walk ;)

OHHHH... you guys are killing me- i had two German shepherds when i was younger, about nine or ten; MAX and Fritz (lol classic name for a German shepherd) but Fritz was older and had to be put down and we had t give MAX away because he kept chasing the neighbors sheep... caught a few but didn't kill any thankfully. Amazing pics guys, really miss them now- I love German Shepherds above all other dogs lol

Thought this was cool just because when I was younger im 30 now I'm talking when I was maybe around 10 we had a male Shephard named Fritz :) just thought I'd share plus on page one that's my Shephard cppr85 had shot she was 1 at the time :) now 6 yrs old there is a few more I posted in here and a few post of my own :)

Well done Calindy for making Skylars remaining time with you as comfortable & fun as it can be. We lost one of our males to a failed disk, sadly Charlie went from being our alpha male to being completely crippled in 7 days :(

So sorry, Charlie was beautiful! He became paralyzed so fast too.
It is rough, and we take it one day at a time. Skylar LOVES his wheels and without them he would no longer be able to go for a walk. We can start swimming soon, and that will help. He is having a harder time lately and will not be with us much longer:cry:. I HATE this disease! I have a Facebook page for him, sharing our journey and learning with others as much as we can about Degenerative Myelopathy (DM).

I enjoy seeing everyone's beautiful GS pictures!!! Great thread!!

It is so tough to watch your strong family member, loose their strength.

Agree. Our black GSD went the same way.
Always best to have them checked out once a year. Zedd had his health check a couple of days ago. His fit, fine and healthy. Doctors clearance to go barmy.
