I'm really really starting to think about switching to one.. I'm looking at a 1650 but curious to know if it's to be able to hold 2 bodies + a 70-200 mm F2.8 and 2 flashes and a 18-70 lens?

might now I have a backpack which is getting overloaded it's stitching has started to fail a bit but i don't think taking it on the subway 4 years ago helped out.

Tookpick? I just used my fingers to pluck out the foam. Draw it then pluck it.

I've got a pelican 1614 to hold all of my lighting gear, and while on paper it seemed perfectly fine, in use, it was a huge PITA. Now, I've downsized my lighting gear to fit in a 1514, which is much much more manageable.

For just camera/lens though, I'd only consider it if you go from point A to B and don't shoot much in between.

For your proposed gear, the 1560 is going to be way overkill. The 1514 should be more than enough.

The 1650 is enormous. I would love to be able to afford everything I could put in it. My wife Has a 1514 which holds 2 bodies, 2x 580ex, and several lenses plus other stuff. Word of advice, while the foam looks cool it is not very practical. As soon as you change your line up the spaces you picked out no longer apply. Get the padded dividers and the photographer lid liner. http://www.pelican-case.com/15cawipadi.html (external link) and http://www.pelican-case.com/1519.html (external link)

Having said all that, it works well when traveling by auto, not so well on foot, air, train or bus. Way too awkward.

We used to have some pelican cases (2) that held 2 Canon XL2 cameras too bad someone broke in and stole the both of them...

Can't remember the model but had me thinking and I see at my job (UPS) man these things are pretty rugged.

If I plan to take it on a plane I would switch cases but for taking it around I can throw it in the car.. Not sure what I want to get for my monolights since I have just one now but getting another in a few weeks I was maybe thinking a padded case or a smaller pelican case.

I'm not very good about the models that Pelican has I have to see a picture first.. Most stuff is A to B stuff I was just trying to figure out by just looking at pictures to see about would it fit or be a little too tight.

Wow just looked at the 1614 and yeah that thing is huge!! The 1514 looks nice and looks better to handle

If you haven't already, this thread may be helpful to you to get an idea on what other members have in their pelican cases :).

As said, the 1650 is a big case. I have one that I use as a traveling case. Something can stuff all my gear in that is water and dust tight and throw in the back of the truck without worry. It would be overkill for the amount of gear you list though. :)

I have the Pelican 1650. It currently cases all of my strobes. ABR800, B1600, B800, and a second B800. I love it and couldn't live without it.

Too big/heavy/clunky for me. Smaller backpacks/bags suit my needs. Camera/lens backpack, super-tele backpack, lighting bag(s). With two hands, I can usually grab what I need and go.

I had one. ROCK solid but heavy. You still have to pick it up once in a while or even carry it up steps.
