Hey guys, I recently went out with my 50D+24-105mm F4L to do a spot of walkabout town photographs but when I switched it on the camera acted as if it had no lense attached
(Showing F00 in the aperture bit on the LCD) and wouldn't focus at all.
Tried taking a photo but it said:
Err01
Communications between the camera and lens is faulty.
Clean the lens contacts.

Now I have no idea about this but a quick google says the 24-105 is at fault. However tried it on my dad's 1100D and it works fine, but his kit 18-55 refuses to work on my 50D too.
Tried cleaning contacts several times to no avail.

If anyone has any info that can shed light on this error would be much appreciated, before I send it off to Canon to be repaired :(

Well, both lenses work on your dad's camera and neither works on yours. You've done all you can do, sounds like. Off to Canon with it...

I would also try updating the firmware and resetting everything by pulling the battery before I sent it back.
