my friend called in, and told them he had a canon...he never actually sent anything in, but just ordered a 60D with the discount...give them a call...tell them you have a t2i...

Exactly how long ago did he order his 60D? IIRC, they give you 10 or 14 days to send in the old camera (mine took longer because I couldn't get the return label to print). I imagine there's some delay in the recycling center reporting to Canon that the return camera was rec'd. And I'm sure there's a delay in getting the additional 20% charged back to your card, and having it show up on your statement.

I'd confirm w/ your buddy 2-3 months after he got the camera, that a charge for the additional 20% didn't show up on his card.

More importantly, why do you have to cheat the system? You can get broken bodies for $10-$20 off of here or ebay. If you can't afford to pay an extra $10-$20 to get a 20% discount, you probably shouldn't be spending your money on photography gear.

he bought it a couple months ago...yeah i can ask him...i don't think it was a set out way of trying to cheat the system...he told me he was interested in getting a canon 60D, i forwarded him this post, and then told him i had an old S2IS he could send in if needed, or he could buy a broken camera off ebay.

next thing i know he calls me and says it's coming in a couple days. i asked if he had to send anything in, he replied they didn't even ask. i didn't believe him, so i kept saying "are you sure? cause i'm pretty sure you have to send in an old camera"...kept saying all they did was ask if he had a canon...

I'll make sure and ask him if he didn't get charged the extra 20% later on....i was surprised the way it worked out for him

Score!!! Just found my old A300. It was having sensor issues when I tossed it into a box o' stuff back in my closet ~6 years ago. Netting me ~$300 off a new 60d 18-135 kit price, this old brick p&s more than paid for itself :)

Also they have the 1D Mk IV on the refurb page now. Not sure if it's eligible for CLP though.

I bought a 5DII and 60D on Friday. I was lucky that they made an exception and added it to one of those orders. If they didn't I was going to buy with another 60D with the lens and return the other one. Saved us both some hassle this way, but YMMV.

Just to give everyone an update.

I received my 60D and 70-200 IS II last night. 60D has ~450 shutter count and ~450 live views (via magic lantern). This 60D is in better shape than my last one which had a feint scuff mark on the LCD hinge, this one is pristine. There is one problem however. My Sigma 17-50 2.8 OS will not focus, it focus hunts almost constantly and occasionally will lock focus after a second. The 70-200 focuses fine so I don't really know what's going on. The 70-200 is in excellent condition as well, the hood does have some scuff marks on the exterior.

I have a replacement sigma on the way from amazon. It should arrive Friday. If that doesn't resolve it I may send the body back for a new one.

I received my replacement Sigma 17-50 2.8 OS. It works fine on my refurbished 60D, so I believe the Sigma crapped out within a month. I just shot a football game yesterday with my 60D and 70-200 2.8 IS II(both refurbished through CLP) and they performed great!

If any one needs a 5D II see my Sig. It is refurbished and sealed in box.

Purchased a canon S95 through the loyaty program today. Price was $251.99
The rep said these S95's are not repaired cameras but overstock. It would have cost $150 to repair my S90 so I thought this was a good deal. I will be using this S95 with another one as a stereoscopic pair.

thanks!

Just got one for my gf. Rep said the same thing about it being a new product. Canon buys back overstock from their dealers when a newer model comes out or something.

Came out to 267 with taxes..he didn't ask or say anything about sending in a used model.:D
