I have received my Canon 5D Mark III today without warranty card. I bought it from "getitdigital" off from ebay. They claim that it is brand new USA product with 1 year USA warranty.

I have called Canon and they say that I need both the receipt AND the warranty card to have warranty for the camera.

I have called the store but they told me that they will email me the warranty card... It sounds strange....

Did any of you guys had the same experience with any cameras? what should I do? Should send it back and ask for a refund?

I've never ever been asked for a warranty card for repairs under warranty.. just a receipt of purchase.

Not sure if its different over your part of the world

The US may different. I am not sure. Never had to repair within the warranty time.

When will people learn that when you buy these cameras at the cheapest price they are NEVER authorized dealers selling you normal stock? No matter what they tell you.

Try to register the serial number on line with Canon. So ask Canon if the dealer is an authorized dealer. If so, you should be good with the receipt. If not, you need to have a discussion with the dealer.

So did buying off eBay yield you any savings? Inquiring minds would like to know. :)

I had a lens repaired under warranty, I sent it back to Canon through the selling dealer and no warranty card was needed.

I would call Canon to verify the camera is legitimate USA product, if not and you send it in for Warranty repair they may well send it back telling you the warranty is invalid.

This is one reason why I only buy from brick and mortar stores. Sure I pay a little more, but it's worth it knowing I won't have headaches such as this.
