It's the nature of the internet. If someone posts something, it stands to reason that there will be responses to it. There will be anecdotes shared. There will be opinions expressed. There's no guarantee that you're going to agree with those opinions. The fact that you disagree with them in no way dictates that they should not be expressed.

If you're that fragile, perhaps the internet's just not for you...

Well, right now, he doesn't have to explain anything. He has clients paying those prices; clients the first guy is acquainted with. He sees them getting the results they want, so he comes back to the OP to get some work done.

The OP had hiS feelings hurt, though, so he makes up some BS story about being booked or "busy" instead of just telling the guy "I don't want to work for you".

A smart businessman would try to work a client into a schedule. But, because the guy "never reversed" what he said, the OP's feathers are all ruffled...

feelings not hurt... not one bit... he had his opinion, and he was rather smug about it. He seemed to know all about my business, probably even more than I did...
why would I want to work with someone like that? It would be one thing if he realized his mistake - but that's not the case.

All I see is if I work for him, he'll just keep on being the type of client I don't want to work for/with - someone that thinks is a know-it-all and has to throw his unwanted 2 cents in. Working for/with him will give me less time for the other customers that have proven to be a lot more respectful.

Is that reason enough?

reverse the table.... make it I who is the jerk to a client throughout an assignment... that customer wouldn't be in touch with me for any follow-up work... I don't see a difference...

Actually, it would make a lot more sense to discuss the actual scenario instead of some fairy tale.

first impression and all...
everything else tells me he'll be just as arrogant in the future

he also made it clear that he has someone just as good as I am for a lot less money - you could say I don't want to take someone else's job away from them...

why don't I stretch out on your couch, and I can tell you about how my father and I didn't have any type of relationship growing up... and maybe if I open up and let it all out, I'll be more than willing to work with jerks! I guess money from an @ss spends the same...
