PM'd, check the sig :) I have Nikon mount version that I've been toying with trading for a while. I use it with a EOS adapter to mount on my Canon bodies.

Replied!

I love this lens, it really feels and give you quality images just like a $2000 nikkor lens aside from the AF.

My 85mm f/1.4 Samyang arrived a short time ago from Mr.Postman. So I've a few things on today, but hope to post some images within next day or so.

Looking forward to it!!

(p.s. I already own the fabulous 35mm f/1.4 version)

I'd recommend a metal screw-in Nikon HN-20 knockoff hood. Sure, you can't reverse it for storage and it's not as fast to take on or off but if you keep it on all the time like I do that's no problem.

It's made for the older Nikon 85/1.4 Ai-S so the hood is perfectly dimensioned and fits on the 72mm filter threads.

Picture(not mine, that's in Nikon mount): http://www.saggiamente.com …2/02/samyang-85-nikon.jpg (external link)

Shopping as we speak for a Rokinon, just haven't decided between the 35mm & 85mm, great thread BTW!

You have the sigma 30...get the 85!!! I've had both and you'll be happy with both of them though...

you will like it. The only bad thing about this lens is that it doesn't focus very close.

Has anyone tried reversing this lens for macro photography? I'm going to buy a ring for my 17-40 lens and wanted to know if I should buy one for the samyang or if I would be better off with extension tubes?

Reversing only works with short focal lenghts.
You might end up having the plane of focus INSIDE the lens if you reverse the 85.
;)
