It was the AI servo color/face tracking that confounded me, never lost the bird, no matter where it flew through the grasses or dived, as long as I kept in the viewfinder, and it seemed like it found it again even after I had lost it from the viewfinder. Mesmerizing.

This is the most anticipated new feature to me. I also pre-ordered at B&H. I really hope I get this by July 15 for a planned Costa Rica vacation. Not holding my breath.

For that type of tracking what a mode did you had it on? Full 61 point, expanded?? Sounds like an awesome feature.

John_T, interesting the EXIF reports it as an EOS K269 body. I have a friend heading off to Hawaii for one of those Canon shoot events in a couple of weeks, he signed up to play with the 1Dx. He doesn't post here, I'll try and get a quickie review from him and post it (he's got a pair of 1DMKIV's now, and has had a 1Dx on order for months).

Yes, EOS K269 is what it internally reports, which may mean it was, for example, #269 of 300 pre-production samples. On the front of the body was the traditional 1D...X badging.

Cant wait till all of the talk stops and the 1DX pics start showing up!

Wanna see "Look what The Brown Truck brought me"!

I know of a few 5DMK3 owners who will be thinking they should have been patient.

I think people will just keep the 5D MK3 as a back up, lets face it, a dam good back up. I will get a 1D X eventually, just fed up of waiting, so a 5D MK3 is on its way

Yup, exactly. I'm tired of waiting too. I'm going to get the 5D3 now and then look back to the 1DX at the end of the year. (who knows, maybe Canon will come out with a 3D by then). Mmmmm 3D.... Essentially everything the 1DX has, but inside of a 5D style body, and 40MP and waterproof, oh yeah...

Yeah but then you wouldn't be able to take pictures With the lens cap on. I heard the 3d suffers from the same light issue.

for twice the price i am not jumping ship. i'm definitely happy w/ the 5D3. maybe i can score a used 300 f/2.8 w/ the funds that would be used to buy a 1Dx...

I'm getting a 17 TS-E with the savings I'll have getting the 5D3.

Now, if I can get the 17 on the Canon rebate, that would rock.

In fact it is scaring me, if the 1D X and 5D MK3 AF that good, it makes anything less now not worth a lot, even 1D MK4 :(

Well if anyone wishes to get rid of their inferior AFing 1D Mk4, I'd be more than happy to take them off your hands. :D

After all, I wouldn't feel right knowing that fellow P.O.T.N.ers are struggling with the knowledge that their cameras AF isn't up to par with that of the 1DX, or 5D Mk III.

It's the least I can do.
