Charlie, I see you have the canon L one as well? How does feel compared? Not sharpness, but just in general. AF, zooming (I see the zoom ring is quite slim compared to the canon)?

The lens feels great, kinda like the 24-105 and build quality looks like that level as well. The zoom and focus rings are quite stiff in comparison to the L, but both smooth, so that takes some getting use to. The throw is quite short, like the 50 1.8.

Just a minor learning curve. Due to being slight shorter and not as heavy as the brick, the weight/handling issue is noticeable compared to the L.

So you will keep the tamron over the canon if you had to choose, as they are both in almost the same price range (with the brick costing a bit more)?

Very likely I will sell my canon L. So far, the AF is a tad slower but just as accurate , the lens is a tad sharper, and the VC is better than the canon versions I have used,.

This will be my primary lens... still getting used to the smaller focus ring and stiffer zoom. The brick grew on me and I really liked the quality of the images, but the features of the tamron Cannot be overlooked.

These could clearly be printed onto A4 or larger, and I'm seeing nothing that worries me, from a lens which, over here, is around 106,000 yen.

Compared with the Canon 24-70L II......? Well, it's clear that an extra 120,000 yen isn't going to help me capture "better" shots, than with the Tamron. That's my job!

Think I'll wander along to my local camera shop in the next couple of weeks....

Charlie actually has posts in the 24-70L thread as well where he does the same kind of PP and ends up with very similar colors, so that is not the lens:

All my photos above are PP'ed individually as well to what I wanted from each. The second photo of mine, of the market, is by far the most processed. The first photos is probably closest to the colors from the camera, and the third photo, with the sax player, is not too far off either. And it was a heavily overcast Seattle day as well, which made for even lighting, but didn't result in vibrant colors.
