You think a 5mdh will fit the following gear?

60D + lenses with hood
24-105L
35L
Tokina 11-16

thanks

It will only fit body+lens attached and 2 additional lens.

The 24-105 and 35L are both pretty big. I think you would only fit those 2 with one mounted on the body. The other spot is large enough for a flash, but I don't think you'd fit another lens over there. If I have a minute tonight, I'll try fitting those 2 lenses on a body in there and see what's left.

Thanks for the review. I currently have a Lowepro Stealth reporter 400 AW that is great for when I want to take most of my gear, but I am looking to find a smaller bag.

I would like to have a bag to carry my 7D with either my 17-50 or 24-105 attached and then the 70-200/4 IS and a 580ex2. What is the smallest of the crumplers that I would need?

Also I like to have a bag with the lowest profile (away from my body) possible. Can the 7D fit turned 90 degress so the body height dimension is going away from your body with the above gear in the bag?

I think the smallest you would want would be the 6. As for 90 degrees, I'm not sure I fully understand. With the lens down, you can put the grip in any of the 4 90 degree increments. Depending on the height of the other items I have in the bag, I typically have the grip toward the clasps I think.

Here is a shot from page 1 with the 5D2 and 35L (about the size of the 24-105 and 17-55), the 70-200 f/4L IS, and the 135L in the 6D. You could easily swap out the 135 for a 580. I wouldn't bet on being able to turn the camera 90 degrees with the 580 in there.

Thanks. I would like to update the pictures of the bags. I saw a couple colors of the 8 on sale through Adorama the other day for $99 and was tempted for a few minutes. lol I so seldom take out the 7 though, I certainly don't need the 8.

Sorry I haven't been adding more follow-ups. Life is a bit crazy with a 3 year old, one who will be 2 in July, and another coming in December.

If you keep the lens pointed down into the bag like in the picutre, then turn it 90 so it is sitting on the cameras bottom base, can you fit the 70-200/4 and 580 to the sides of it with the 5 mil?

The 6 mil actually looks too big, but I don't want the 5 mil to be too small.

Thanks for the help.

If you turn the camera 90 degrees, I don't think the 580 will fit in either bag. Look at the height of the 580. It's as tall as the 70-200 roughly. It may fit that way in the 6 if you folded the flash head 90. Not sure about the 5. If I get a chance, I'll try a few things tonight.

Thanks, I would really appreciate it because I can't find any local vendors that carry the crumpler bags, or at least have them in stock so I am going to have to order from B&H.

That was the same thing I was thinking. 6M too big...5M either just right or too small. I just got my 5M yesterday...haven't loaded it up yet.

I got a 7MDH recently as well and it's a decent sized bag. Actually, I got the 6MDH first but returned it because i just couldn't get comfortable with how the 60D with grip fit into the bag with other lenses, flash, and accessories. The 7 is big, the gear fits easily which I prefer for ease of getting stuff in and out but it is too much to carry for any distance when fully loaded with all my gear. For those fully loaded shoots where it's less run and gun, the Kata backpack comes out.

I tried it last night and took a few pictures, but didn't get the pictures off the card yet. I had the 7D with 24-105 mounted, 70-200 f/4L IS and 580 in both the 6 and 5 MDH. In the 5 it's just not wide enough to have the camera turned 90 degrees (bottom of the camera away from the flap.) I also wouldn't personally put that setup in my 5 MDH. The hoods make it too crowded down in there. I didn't try it, but perhaps if I put the 70-200 in after the camera with the hood up instead of down. I don't like a bag to be that crowded though. I wasn't crazy about how the grip fit when turned 90 degrees in the 6 MDH either, but it did fit comfortably. I will try to get the pictures up tonight.

Here's a pic of a 5MDH with a T2i gripped with a mounted 18-55 kit lens, 70-200F4L in one side and a Metz 50AF-1 flash on the other. It's pushing the size limit of the bag, but it will buckle closed and velcro. The big problem is the hood on the 70-200...that adds a lot of diameter when reversed on the lens.

Here are the pictures I got last night. Both are with the 70-200, hood reversed, 7D with 24-105 mounted and the 580 on the side.

Here is the 6MDH. Fit was a little awkward because the end of the lens doesn't touch the bottom of the bag and the grip hangs the camera on the divider. I'd rather leave the camera rotated.

And here is the 5MDH. This is really too tight, mostly because of the hoods. If you left the hoods out, it would fit ok.

I got the 7MDH about a year ago and have no regrets, been overseas with it twice now and most recently on a trip with the family, carried my 550D, 70-200 f4L IS, 35L, 17-55, Speedlite 430 EXII and some accessories like charger, blower etc, awesome bag.

Great reviews and photos Randy, cheers.
