Nup...hand held with 17-40 (at between 17 and 30) on a 1DMkII.
It did get a bit hairy. Eventually common sense kicked in and I bailed out.
I got the shot I was after so decided not to push my luck.

You should be able to find a club or state level event to get to.
There's one at Kempsey on 26 & 27 May and a few others in the next few months.

They're really good events and Off Roaders are really welcoming people.

Have a look at this link for a list of what's coming up https://photography-on-the.net …/[QUOTE=dophoto;14383116]http://offroadracing.com.au …ear.listevents&Itemid=554 (external link)

Phil, those are good shots, but a shot isn't worth getting hurt.

Phil, I like 3,4,6
The last two look too close for my liking, but I am aware you know what you are doing, and that a wide angle lens can make stuff look closer than it really is, I do hope they were arms length "hope this is framed and focused ok" shots though.
Just don't get yourself run over, cars can be a bit unpredictable, especially when they are flying.

(have you seen the video of Nic Box's crash at forest rally this year? If he did that the year before he would have hit my wife as he left the road, we both looked and though it was a safe place to stand)

Some of the pics seem a little flat to me too, it may be the IPad I'm viewing them on though.

Phil is this one of them photos of where photogs shouldn't be standing?

Kinda scary looking at 'em. I like some from the others you have posted too, the buggy bottoming out is great.

Those last two look far too close for comfort Phil!

#5 is my pick; the UWA distortion makes for an interesting image.

#5 is very unique, love them all. I've seen too many people get hit in the Baja 1000, you sure pushed it with the last few especially being on the other side of a rise, your camera could have been damaged what's wrong with you! :)

The first few are well done & interesting by bringing in more of the surroundings, love those last couple of wide shots as well. Great stuff.

Crazy or brave...maybe both. Not really sure.

What made it worse was there was little or no breeze on Sunday and the dust tended to just hang.
It took me about 3 hours to clean all my gear afterwards, but that just goes with the territory.
