SI, AP, Getty. From all the info I've read, they're simply ironing out any last little wrinkles and building up stock. It takes 3 weeks to a month for a shipment to even get here so any delay is going to push a launch back significantly. You take a month to fix any wrinkles and then the month to get here and you're two months behind already.

And I'm sure all of the pro photogs heading to London for the Olympics are using it now. I'm sure they don't want to have less than a month to play with them and learn the new features and all that. Would suck missing a gold-medal finish while the photog has to learn a different way to change ISO (I'm sure that's not true, but you get my point...)

According to the crusty old guy at a local camera shop he hears rumors that the 1Dx has been shelved and Canon is going back to the drawing boards due to be so eclipsed by the Nikon D800. He proclaims that the hottest seller ever and the best DSLR to see the light of day. I ingested that with a LARGE grain of salt.

Sounds like a Nikon fanboy...

All I heard was that they are pushing the release date back in order to get their very-delayed mass production started in order to have enough bodies to quench the initial demand.

If the 1Dx was to be shelved, then what was the point of announcing it to the world? Why not just wait and see what Nikon can do and then top it?
