Here is one picture I took this morning by 5Dc with film era MF prime on it.
I'm looking at it and getting film camera feel.
Even from the internet sized picture.

I bet 5dmk2 image will look exactly same.

I don't get the feeling you are describing. Maybe there's something wrong with my Dell U2410 monitor?

Guys...
Even if this picture would be taken with Rebel it will gives you film feel.

Hard to look at a film camera and not think film isn't it? :)

All i know is that since starting to use 5dc and 1d3 extensively I've begun to stop using luminance nr altogether. I just dont mind the type of noise these cameras make at all....... For the price the 5dc is the most bang for your buck dslr imo.

Funny thing with the luminance NR, I feel exactly the same, don't really use it anymore. When the 5Dc does produce a bit noise at ISO 800+ I don't mind the look of it one bit. Only thing I really miss is LV :( A better lcd would be nice but doesn't make a difference for me but I wish it had LV.

I think it's just nostalgia. The 5dc was my first full frame camera since 35mm film days. The initial excitement of getting great film quality images from a dslr for the first time was well worn off by the time I got a 5d2 and 1ds2. So shooting the first images with
the 5d2 just wasnt as exciting. I imagine I will feel that same excitement again if I ever manage to get my hands on a medium format digital.

Yeah, the noise is smooth, but I'd prefer it to be not there at all :D

I hope you're right...I think the lack of the perceived "feel" may just be simply that the 5D2 is sharper haha (not at a pixel level, but at equal sizes).

It matters if you cropping down to an apsc size then uprez to get something you want to print large. Many people would rather do that than shoot with a crop.

There's always an exception to a rule... Don't get me wrong, having the ability to take a 100% 800x600 crop (or whatever) from a 5616 x 3744 image is great and I do it from time to time, but if you have to rely on 100% crops all the time for presentation or normal viewing then something else is wrong...

As for large prints, I'm not here to argue that. However, resolution always isn't a huge issue and this is highly subjective. A 40' wide billboard or 6 foot wide office wall art print designed to be viewed from a distance doesn't need resolution like a poster sized litho that you're going to have your nose 6" away.

Bwhaha I just upgraded from a 20D to a 7D and would have KILLED to be able to have a 2.5" screen of the 5Dc. You have not seen glory until you've tried to check images on the 1.8" screen...;)

i've shot with a 5Dc for the past 3 years, and i love it. there is a smoothness to the images that i haven't seen with other bodies, at least not since the 10D. i think a lot of that is due to pixel size and density - the 10D and the 5Dc were very similar in that regard. that said, i just bought a 5D2, and am eagerly waiting for delivery (for what i do, the incremental enhancements the Mk III offers over the Mk II are not worth the extra $1500). i'm looking forward to its low-light capability in particular. but i have a feeling i'll hang onto my 5Dc for a while as a backup, and if there really is a difference, i may keep it indefinitely. i've gotten so used to the low-res LCD and the clunky handling that they don't bother me in the least. then again, i do 95% of my work with that camera from a tripod, and will use the 5D2 in pretty much the same way...

IMHO, the 5Dc is inferior in almost every way to the 5D2. The cult status of the 5Dc is the product of the internet, not the camera itself (when compared to later cameras).

I agree totally ... I think it has more to do with nostalgia than anything else. Moving from the 5D to 5DII was a great relief for me, especially when shooting outdoors with higher depths of field. The 5D sensor was one hell of a dust magnet and would need endless hours cleaning up the files post processing. What I am surprised is that some seem to consider the color cast or mention "warmer" pictures ... come on guys that is just a white balance adjustment and different saturation preset for God's sake. Take the picture in RAW and play around with the WB to your heart's content. The 5DII is better in every single way and adds many new features with a better IQ and better high ISO performance as well as leading edge video. The sore point with the 5DII is non leading edge focus, but otherwise it is fantastic. So yes the 5Dc was a great camera and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, but the 5DII is better and now the 5DIII seems even better (but can't seem to buy one yet!).

I started shooting with DSLR in 2008 and owned a XTi/20D/30D/40D within 2 years, and then got the 5Dc. Finally, I owned a camera that I was happy with the images that came SOOC. For most shots I can do quick exposure and WB adjustments and leave it at that. Lovely SHARP images (due to the lack of AA filter or whatever) I really never need to do sharpening as long as I don't mess up the shot in some way.

Yes, I would trade for a 5D2 (and might do in the future as they drop in price) because for me portraits look stunning when viewed at such a high resolution, and as good as ISO3200 is on the 5Dc, I would love being able to shoot clean ISO6400 and have higher still available. Video and LV would be a real bonus as well. But for the time being I need to buy more fast, quality lenses.

I don't shoot landscapes so dust never been a problem with all the dSLRs that I have owned.
