I'm waiting for version II of the EF 1200mm f/5.6L lens. Maybe that one will have I.S. and be a tad lighter.

Photographers do it in 1/1,000th of a second...but the memory lasts forever! ;)

But how does it compare to the massive firepower brought by the Sigma 200-500mm APO EX DG?

Please, clearly the most extreme lens made by Canon is this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mattbenn8/6861914503/ (external link):lol::lol: (it's also got a 2x extender built in)

And it only costs a mere $220,000.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

No, the fat old uncle who can't get out of bed anymore (5200 is FD mount and requires a truck to move).

At least the adaption to EF mount should be no problem with a thinner adapter like Ed Mikas FD-EF adapter.

It's long enough they should just include a fold down monopod....

For $120000? I'll rather have an R8 or an SL 550

Ha! Of course a München guy would say that. Let me guess, you like BMW? ;)

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

serious question
why would you want this lens compared to a rather nice 14inch telescope for only the small price of 5k?

And my serious answer is...

As previously stated, if I were to buy this lens, it would mean i have a couple ferraris and a Lambo and a mansion.... i don't use a telescope and 5K would be nothing to me lol... other then that, I would never actually buy it... i just like the idea of a lens that powerful for a camera
