Woohoo! I just picked up a 50D to replace my XT, which has served me well but is in desperate need of upgrading. I was looking at 40Ds in the $375 used price range here in STL, but I came across a 50D with 25,000 actuations and otherwise in near mint condition for $475. Seemed like a no brainer to scrounge up $100 more and go for the 50D.

In any case, I can't wait to shoot some pics. Coming from the XT, this should be like a whole new hobby.

My quite modest little gear list: 50D gripped | 135L | 50 1.4 | 50 1.8 | 85 1.8 | 28-105 3.5-4.5 | Speedlite 420EX | 2 Yongnuo 460ii | stands, 2 umbrellas, one softbox

Wow that's a very good price for a 50D, here I can't find used ones for less than ~800$.

It's a VERY capable camera...

Mine JUST got relegated to "back-up" when I bought a 7D, but I happily shot thousands of pictures with the 50D. Enjoy...

Regards!

Some of my best European vacation shots were taken with a 50D. You're going to love it.

1Dx - 5DIII - 40D - Canon 24-70LII, 100L macro, 135L, 16-35L, 70-200 f4 and 100-400L lenses

- "Very good" is the enemy of "great." Sometimes we confuse the two.

I've had many a good times when I had my 50D. Low light photography wasn't one of them. Learn to shoot to the right on that thing.

The 50D is a great camera, there have been many times I wished I'd kept mine as a backup. Enjoy it!

Great camera, you'll love it. Unfortunately mine never got too many clicks because the 1D3 kind of overshadowed it so I sold it... I wouldn't hesitate buying another if I found one for the right price though.

I've owned a 50D for 3+ years and have had a blast with it. Doesn't see as much use now that I have my 5d2 :-)

Congrats. You are in for a treat. The 50D is a fine camera and well worth the extra $$$ over the 40D. It is a serious upgrade over the XT. ;)
