Thinking about going to the dark side, 60D to D3200

I've found that 60D with a wide angle lens hanging off my neck all day is pretty heavy. I've been thinking of switching to the new Nikon D3200, reportedly weighs 455g vs 800g or so of the 60D.

Any opinions about the advantages vs disadvantages going to the Nikon system?

Body: Canon 5Dc, (Coming soon <<<6Dc, maybe I shall wait for 6Diic with TouchScreen!).
Other Favorite Camera:
Flash: YN560
Lenses: change all the time!

If you can afford it, have both! Otherwise, jumping ship every other week will be expensive! What happens when Canon replaces the 60D and you like it? Are you going back to the lightside from the darkside? You should rent the camera in question and Nikon's equvilant lens to the Canon lens you own! Apples to apples comparison, and then make a decision. I'd mull it over for awhile before I decided. My .25!

Not sure about weight, but what about the canon T3i?
Unless you are set on going to Nikon no matter what...

What about getting a good shoulder strap instead of using the neck strap? I love my Black Rapid RS-4 R-Strap.

Switching systems isn't for the faint of heart particularly if you have a lot of gear. Don't forget that with the D3200 you will be limited to lenses that only have SWM, HSM, etc. Legacy lenses won't AF on them.

I'll second that for the Black Rapid shoulder strap - excellent bit of kit and a lot cheaper than changing camera systems ;)

One listing I found says the T3i weighs 560 grams including the battery and card.

That's a huge downgrade from the 60D, the D3200 is entry level compared to the "prosumer" 60D. I wouldn't do it. Also, I have no idea if they've changed anything since the D70 days, but I HATE having no second wheel to adjust things. The Nikon two wheel system is like the back wheel on the Canon: one does NOT simply photograph their way without it!

Jay,
While I love this cartoon, is there an accompanying one with the young lad slamming the door just as the old man crosses the threshold ? Maybe a gif animation..

Personally, I don't understand these threads like this one.. Really, you want to change brands ? Who gives a $h!+ ? Change brands and go quietly in the night!

OK, I'm gonna go change the brand of toothpaste I use- from Colgate to Crest- and see how many are gonna try to talk me out of it..
