I was thinking about getting the Non IS version of this lens but there is only a couple hundred dollars difference. I think I might get this lens instead...

I think you are a wise man. It takes only a few seconds to have a health issue leaving us forever shaking one way or another. Occasional movement by a fully trained and perfect in form photographer will mostly be overcome by the IS. IS has largely overcome a my shakes from age and a past stroke. I can still at age 76 get very satisfactory IQ. Except for altered minds and scrambled brains I think of IS as an insured stabilizing factor for anyone.
