Why? .. because you prefer antiquated menus, small LCD screens, and very noisy higher ISO pictures over modern technology

I can never understand the hatred and disdain that some people have for the very capable Rebel cameras

I also like flip phones and enjoy hand written notes.

7d hands down.
The new 650 will be nice but it won't rival the 7d in overall features.
I have a 500d and its nice but I dint touch it anymore. My 60d is superior in every way.

I'm in a similar debate myself. I have a T2i and I'm not sure if I want to upgrade to 60D or 7D

I debated for a bit on getting a 7D now or waiting for a potential 7D II - then upgraded to the 7D. I can't imagine much in the way of AF improvements in a 7D MK II, so the update will be either a lot more MPs with the same noise or around the same MPs with somewhat better noise. But IMHO, since Canon didn't improve the sensor that much between the 5D II and 5D III, I'm not expecting anything earth shattering with the next APS-C sensor.

And if some of the rumors are true, the next APS-C camera (70D?) could actually lose features and performance compared to the 7D. In that case I'll keep the 7D for quite a while.

I went from an XTi to a 7D and the IQ is night and day especially in higher ISO shots.

You'd also see a "night and day" difference between the XTi and the T3i in that regard.

I went from a t1i to a 7d very recently and the 7d is way more camera. Will the 7dii come out soon, won't it, imho it doesn't matter because the 7dii will cost a boat load more but how much more will it be able to do, really? JMHO of course

Yup I like cigars. 7d, T1i and a bunch of other junk.

What are you guys expecting from 7DII? 7D is a plenty camera. May be better high ISO shots, swivel screen, SD and CF card slots. But they may start with $2000+ price tag. I don't think they will change much of it. It will be like T2i and T3i, there is not much difference.

i agree. the 7d has no obvious flaws unlike the 5d2 which teh AF was the big flaw on that camera.

the 7d has great fps, AF, ergonomics and IQ. Dunno what the 7d2 will have that would pony into 5d3 territory.

IMO what they can do on a 7d2 is make it FF and thats it. done

I'd choose an old 20d over any Rebel.

Id choose my Canon A-1 SLR Film over any REBEL

The 7D Mark II will come out at $1700 body only. If not, Canon will be eating my hat, not me - I'll hold out at least until a sizable price drop. Considering that I got my 7D for $1000 used without a lens is one thing, but considering that it works almost perfectly is another. They'll need a pretty nice high ISO improvement to make me happy, too (AF could still be improved but most of the time it's no practical consideration).

Hi,

I am currenlty using Rebel XTi since 2008 and I feel an upgrade is needed.

I had rounded off on 7D and got to know about 650D launch is around the corner. Can you please suggest if I need to stick on to 7D or wait for 650D launch.

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Regds
Raj

I'd be more interested in whether a 7D Mark II is just around the corner rather than a T4i/650D which will likely just be an incremental improvement over the 600D.

I think the debate between the 7d and the new Rebel takes into account the new processor and wondering if a new sensor will come out with it. Even if its the same 18mp sensor but handles noise a little better makes people wonder.
But like most posters in here, the 7d's features are a different level than any Rebel. You know Canon won't let a Rebel shoot 7 fps!
