Thinking about going to the dark side, 60D to D3200

What wide angle is so heavy? The 10-22mm from canon is the lightest wide angle they make, and the 17-40mm is almost double the weight.

If weight is a concern, I would take a look at something like the Sony 5n camera and lenses. From what I have seen, it delivers superb results and is small and light compared to DSLR's.

If you can afford it, have both! Otherwise, jumping ship every other week will be expensive! What happens when Canon replaces the 60D and you like it? Are you going back to the lightside from the darkside? You should rent the camera in question and Nikon's equvilant lens to the Canon lens you own! Apples to apples comparison, and then make a decision. I'd mull it over for awhile before I decided. My .25!

maybe that is what i have to do is to have both for awhile, long enough for me to decide which system is better fitted for my shooting style. but this what stucks to my mind before i asked the question of the idea switching to Nikon.

1. weight: Nikon D3200 is almost half the weight of Canon 60D and has form for comfortable grip.
2. Sensor size: I know it is only weenee bit bigger but it's still bigger, 1.5x vs. 1.6x of Canon 60D

Canon advantage is a lot more choices for lenses.

example, currently i have 4 wide angle lenses: Sigma 8-16, Tokina 10-17 fe, 11-16 f2.8 and 12-24 f4....maybe less choice is better choice for me!?!

All those lenses are made in the Nikon mount as well.

I think what may be the factor here is the resolution but you're not gaining much from 18MP to 24MP, The D3200 is Nikon's entry level body and while it weighs less it's also lighter when it comes to features. The D7000 is the Nikon counterpart to the 60D though it doesn't have the articulating LCD which is expected on the body that replaces it.

I agree, MRLA should compare apples to apples! I still say, rent the 3200 before pulling the trigger!

We all know by now that the D800 and 36MP is not all what it is cracked up to be. Nikon might have won the MP war, but they are also winning the NOISE war. More mega pixels is only going to be you more noise as Nikon users are scratching their heads. I'd buy the D7000 before I'd buy the D3150 <-- and that is not a typo..lol

Besides weight, what do you like about the D3200? If weight is your concern, consider just buying a second T3 or T2i body (if you want the articulating screen get a T3i), and keep your current body. One lightweight body you can bang around, and a more "serious" body for taking photographs.

The OP wasn't asking about the D800 but where are you getting the information about noise?

He probably saw your "D7000 = 60D" and thought the OP wanted to move laterally across the brands instead of tumbling down the stairs and breaking a leg or two.
