I tried the manual focus for the first time EVER in my life. I've been using the manual setting on my DSLR since I bought it in October, but never tried manual focus. It's been an adventure. Used my 70-200 IS II "L" for this shoot. Had the f/at 2.8. Do they work, or would a different f/stop been better? Thanks for any tips. And does #5 work for anyone?

Thanks for any tips. These were all taken in my yard around the various flower beds.

5. Not sure about this shot. Clearly the bee wasn't in focus, but I like it for some reason. You know it's there, and it give some drama to the shot. Does it work for anyone else?

I shot some bees today (first time with bees). If you were getting close like I was, I would suggest shooting at f11 or f16 to give you a bigger DOF.

Thanks. I'll try that next time. I used f/2.8 because the garden is pretty busy and I didn't want a distracting background.

I'll see what happens with the f/stops you suggest.

You should put your pictures up, they are tough buggers to shoot! Of the 5 I posted, I bet I took 50!
