I'm loving the 20d at the moment. Compared to the rebel bodies I've tried I prefer the feel, controls, and weight of the 20d body with grip. Thanks to a wonderful family, I got this as a hand-me-down to work on the handling/skills with a dslr and the chance to build a nice lens collection before upgrading to a newer body down the road.

OK for all you trusty 20D user , if their are any out there. I'm having issues updating my firmware. Right now the firmware is @
1.0.4
I have gone to the Canon website and read the download procedure and the file for my
computer. My problem is the file is incorrect , it is not self-extracting the file I need
(20d00203.fir) only the 20d00203.fir.sit. When I click on the file , all I get is a text.
It does not extract into the "fir" file it should so I can transfer it onto the CF card
Here is my system info
Mac OS 10.6.8
Intel core i5 2.4 Ghz
CF card size 512mb & 1gb tested.

Is there anyone out there that can help me. Maybe download the file for me and send it to me. Or maybe if you are located in the California Bay Area that could meet me with a CF loaded with the file. I'll drive to you and meet in local place.
Here's my email: tallgeese2@sbcglobal.net (external link)

Thank you in advance, Scott

Well, I'm sorry to say, I have to turn in my membership for this club, since my 20D just died on me and I've bought a 7D to replace it. :)

I traded my xti for a 20d a few months ago and just love feeling of holding it compared to the xti which felt too small in my hands. 20d + tamron 17-50 non vc is amazing!

I gave mine away about a month ago. While it was great during its time, I just found out that it was very hard to pick up when I had the 40D and 5DII instead. I then found that it was so unused that the batteries refused to recharge ... I figured it would be better to give it to someone that might at least use it. I did a quick comparison with the 5 DII before giving it away, and wow ... things have really improved. Now that I have just received a 5DIII, I might have to get rid of my 40D as well!

Well last week I upgraded my trusty 300D to a nice 20D, I knew if I waited long enough I would be able to make the change. I remember looking at the 20D just about when it was fitst avilable (it certainly wasn't in many shops at the time) and thinking that it was the dogs danglies and if I sold one of the kids maybe I could have afforded it.

Well to be honest it does the same pictures as my 50D. But I needed to pay school so I had to sell it. Now I have 20D instead. I would never go back to plastic bodies. It just does not feel right. I like it very much. Just some function in the menu are not so comfortable to access but I got used to it.*

I like all the cameras 10D-50D. I will buy 40D later. It is said it has better colors and noise. Noise is obvious - less Mpx. They disappointed me with 60D. Such a plastic toy, too much Mpx.*

I take pictures with 20D and nifty-fifty. The pictures seem to be very same as I used to take with 50D. Yeah I cant do crops that much so it makes me think more about the photo. And the results? I like them. So my point is I would take simply the same with 50D. At the end of the summer I plan to get used 24-70L. Already cant wait :)

Manually focused hoya +4 closeup lens and nifty fifty.
