Made a point of using JUST the 70-200 at the Gardens - all handheld and I am pleasantly surprised with the results.

The bokeh on this isn't as smooth as my 85L II was... but damn... this bokeh is insane.

Love the bokeh on this lens. Just placed an order at Adorama :D

I was tied up between this lens and the 85L II for so long, but this lens really stood out to me, especially after lurking this thread for so long!

[QUOTE=Tibits;14464067]with 1.4 x III

Very nice work with and without the extender. I am on schedule with a plan to come up with the 2XIII. Maybe towards the end of this year. I just borrowed the 1.4III for a playoff game this Friday.

I did a side by side of this lens with the previous version and was blown away with the remarkable contrast and sharpness this glass does.

Yeah, if you had the 85L and switched to this lens the bokeh is a downgrade, but the versatility of this lens is far greater than just the 85L. This lens excels at almost everything but if you are doing portraits more so I would opt out of this lens and go for the 85 then. That being said this is truly a spectacular lens and I'm really looking forward to putting it through some intense use.

Well said. The 85 L II is THE portrait lens. The 70-200 II can't touch that thing for portraits, but for versatility/price the 70-200 II is almost untouchable in my eyes.

Yeah, I noticed that in a review I was reading. They had side-by-side shots and the contrast and color is about 10x better than the previous version. Not to mention sharpness is improved massively!
