Thanks Joe and Bobobird.

The "Cut-out" effect is a consequence of having to push the exposure, clarity and shadow sliders hard to overcome the effect of the low contrast between the planes and the murky background sky.
I'm thinking I may have a play with introducing a more interesting sky some time in the future using CS6

Couldn't resist sharing these to see what you think. I've done a bit more playing with the PPing (but not "added" anything via layers etc).

The incredible Feiseler Storch, which can almost stand still in the air!

I need a minor favor. When I order my 70-300L, I will have to wait a while for a new backpack for my gear. I'm leaning toward the Tenba Shootout... either medium or large. But before that I will need to buy a cheap (read Chinese) lens case. Could someone measure the lens with its lens hood on? plus how much width does the tripod ring add? I have the overall dimensions of the lens itself from the Canon site but can't seem to find either of these dimensions.

Thanks a bunch,

These were taken during one of the "really big" thunder/rain storm we had in HK throughout my stay there. There never was really a good day as such. Luckily there was a pavilion to shelter under for the shots but gear protection was a real hassle. Back home now and under the influence already (jetlag from a 16 hours flight).

Bobobird, I think those are some of your finest shots so far. 1st,4th and 5th are stunning with excellent focus, great light and good composition. A bit of rain + grey skies makes for superb flower pictures (in my view)
