hope all goes well for you :-D

Rain is letting up, so feeling a little better. FedEx usually comes by here at about 1:00pm, and I'm thinking I might be back by then.

I JUST CAN'T WAIT!!! Lol...

Actually quite the opposite.... I probably pulled one of the BIGGEST bonehead moves ever...

So I get the lens, spend about 30 minutes cleaning it, looking at it, all that. I'm all excited, and I take pics of it so I can post it up here, and I start to notice something when looking at the pictures... the side switches don't look right... and I don't see the "Set" button. So I run upstairs to look at the plate on the lens... it's NOT an IS version!! :(

Somehow I was blinded and I missed the fact that "IS" wasn't in the ad... talk about sadness, and embarrassment... *sigh*. I must have just locked in on the price and not noticed it. But I'll tell you, the price I paid was great for an IS, but AWFUL for a Non-IS. I guess the good news is I can get my money back, which I'll do, but I'll have to use it this weekend for a shoot before I can send it back.

I can't even believe that I missed that... and I apologize to everyone that followed this, I feel awful. So I will be able to get 100% of my cash back, and I do have someone local wanting to sell theirs, so I'll just have to wait a few weeks to get that one.

Guess I could use a shoulder to cry on at this point... (and feel free to laugh while you're at it...)

Man, so sorry for your dilemma. That really does suck! But I can fully understand how one's excitement could cause them to overlook something like whether or not the lens had I.S.

Good thing that you can return it for a full refund, and have an I.S. model available that you can purchase.

Well, in the grand scheme of things, all is well. You have the opportunity to return it and you have a line on another lens. Thats a pretty good ending for an unfortunate situation. And I bet a plug nickle you never do that again. ;)

*sigh* Yea. I got it from KEH, they have an unconditional 30-day return policy. It's all boxed up to go back. Will get refund early next week. By then I should have enough to get one from the local guy, if he is still selling. So I'll have one, one way or another...

Hope you get your IS version soon post some pictures when you do. The wait will only increase your joy when you do get it!

I should be ready for the "real" thing by the end of next week. My refund should come through, and also some other stuff selling, so I'm sure it will happen, but hate waiting!!

Man, that sucks. Although the non-is is nothing to sneeze at ;)
Hope everything ends well & you are enjoying the 300 goodness sooner rather than later!

Thanks... it's just the waiting (trying not to quote Tom Petty...). I sent the non-IS back, they should receive it on Tuesday, they say refund 3 days later, and I have other things that will mature by then, so HOPEFULLY by this time next week I'll be able to try it again.

I still feel like a MEGA idiot... oh well...
