My RRS L-plate is now attached to the mkIII and it is a perfect fit. Really, I have to say I don't know what all the fuss was about regarding the bottom plates and fit/abrasion concerns.

Can you please shoot against light close up of how plate fits around the body.
Is it anything like this (external link)?

My L plate looks nothing like that from the front, or the back. Totally different profile on it than your bottom plate.

David, The angle Andrew and some others (myself included) are concerned about is from the side. Your shots are from the from the back of the camera. The picture Andrew posted is from the side and shows the ledge everyone is concerned will damage their camera.

That picture doesn't look like a revision A.

The RRS lettering isn't in the same place. On the rev A it's at the top of the vertical side, near the menu button, not along the bottom horizontal.

I've just held my camera up to the light from all angles and I can't see anything like that projecting profile.

The only possible issue could be the rear edge of the horizontal plate which isn't curved like the Kirk version so potentially there could be a contact rub but mine's been on there for over two weeks now - I've just removed it again and there are no markings whatsoever on the camera.

Truly, I can see no problem with rev A.

If you click on the link (external link) you'll see that it is a Rev. A, except it's standard, non L-plate thus possible difference in lettering. The bottom plate design is the same on both though.

Tried hooking up my Adidt M1 very cheap wired trigger to my 5D3 with the RRS L bracket installed, and the plug isn't deep enough to sit into the camera. :( Bah!

However, my Vello intervalometer does work. So :D Yay!

Hehe, I got my BG-E11 recently, and I already think of getting the L-plate.
Seeing it "be in stock by early August" gives me the shivers.

Maybe I should pre-order and hupe to get one in a month or two before I go for vacation in october.

Is it worth just getting the Markins L plate instead of waiting on RRS?
