Funny, it's something I've always wondered about, and I've never seen a crow's nest, until today. This one was on a rock ledge in a small rock quarry. The nest was about 15' down from the top edge, and about 25' up from the floor of the quarry. They're not flying yet, but based on their size, Mom & Dad will be showing them the ropes before too long. Speaking of Mom & Dad, they were flying overhead squawking at me to go away. The rock is a red sandstone, in case you were wondering ;)

Wow that's so neat! What a lucky find. Nice. :) I think i like the first one best, they started to look concerned in the others.

I have wondered about it. And they are very difficult to photograph, at least here. Very aware of their surroundings. Skittish.

Thanks for the comments. I don't think they were concerned, I was quite a ways away. Unlike adult crows, these "little" one didn't make a peep.

oh, they're the same here, Sam! These young haven't fledged yet though so they were a captive audience. When it comes time for them to fly, it'll be a one-way trip from the nest unless they can fly back up to it ;)

These are great Ian, what a great find and great shots, I don't think I've ever seen a crows nest with the young ones posted on here before.

Oh wow! I would LOVE to see a Crow's nest. I think I saw one once, but way up in a tree and I'm still not certain it was actually a nest! Love these, Ian. Especially the second to last is great. And look at those beaks. They too have rubber lips!! :) :)

that's a great find Ian, even with the chicks almost fully grown, I don't think I have ever seen crow chicks. (nor a nest for that matter!)

Thanks, Joe, among all the photogs here, it's weird that few if any have seen a crow's nest. They must locate them in really secret locations. This rock quarry is a seldom-used place, so I guess they deemed it to be secret enough. ;)

Great find Ian. Another one I've wondered about is Vultures. I think I read once they nest in caves and fallen hollowed out trunks but with so many around I've never run across a nest or seen one posted here. Thanks for posting.

Thanks very much, Mike! Now it's your turn to show us that vulture's nest :)
