well that was painlessly easy. i've never really delved into the deep dark menus of ML except for intervolometer. thanks will! i agree with the shutter button issue. i use backbutton focus and it does that as well. kind of annoying.

lets work on it and see what options we have. Pressing half-way / snapping a photo interupts the video recording... I don't mind a focus correction but taking a photo ain't cool if you don't want to...

I also set my movie record start and stop button as the 'Set' button...

Added: well I set it to "Live" mode focus instead of Quick - and it focused without taking a photo.. which is good, but I'm wondering if I did something else too!

Added: hey when your video is mapped to C - you can continue to use your custom shooting settings (when 'Set' starts your video vs half-shutter press)... until you press Set - then video mode begins.

nope, that did it. i don't think you did anything else since all i did was switch from quick to live. good job!

i didn't map mine to the set, it's still on backbutton, but i did see that my custom settings remained until i hit the vid button. now the real question, if i switch to a card that doesn't have ML on it, will i lose the vid on c? lets find out...

*edit. and the answer is yes, i lose the vid function on c without ML. ah well, i always run ML, so it's all good.

Thank you, that is good to hear from more than one person.

Same here I have been really impressed with them here in the S.L.C. They are Utah based company and everytime I have a screw up on my phone and the phone has had to be replaced, they take off the old one and replace it with a new one. They have a lifetime warranty if you have it installed at their shop or cart at the mall. They charge 5 bucks as a install fee, but has totally worth it since my devices keep getting messed up. First time I got a update and it bricked the phone, so T-mobile sent me a new one and they wrapped the new one. Second time I broke off the headphone jack in the phone and they replaced it. I have their stuff on my phone, 60D and Ipad and haven't had any problems yet. The covers peel right off and don't leave any residue that I've noticed. In fact I actually got my new phone on a friday and still wanted it proteced over the weekend, so I peeled the cover off and put it on the new phone and by the end of the weekend the cover had gelled or whatever they call it by Monday minus the area I had got my dirty fingers under the sticky stuff to pull it off. Hope that make you feel a little better until tomorrow. All I have to say is if you have a mall by you have them install it and you get the lifetime with it.

Very great pictures Paul, feels like summer! They're saturated just perfectly! Last one is my favorite, reminds me of some windows wallpaper :p

Paul, wallpaper crossed my mind as soon as I saw the first photo. I love the saturated colors!

I've got to start using my video more often. I used it for the first time yesterday to shoot some of the bikes downtown (DC) and got video but nothing special. As for settings, I just switched to video mode and pushed the red button.

Question; how do you shoot slow-motion? I don't see that in the manual.

1.) I'm using the 1280x720 @60p
then import it in After effects.
in the project library right-click the video then select interpret footage
then select main....
in the frame rate, change 59.94 to 23.976

voila! you're video is now in slowmo

OR (for a more slow mo like what i did on my video)

2.) I'm using Twixtor Pro plugins for after effects (search twixtor pro in youtube)

i don't use Magic Lanterns... it makes my SexyD act weird.... still not perfect.

cheers!

my 60D buddy in town and I complain how cumbersome video is on the 60D - compared to a point and shoot.

maybe your buddy is using autofocusing in video, it's really bad and not recommended. full manual is the way to go like what the amateur videographer using DSLR do.

This makes me excited on the rumors on the next upgrade of 60D. It says full auto in video and live view shooting.

Making the most of my weekend, went for a ride yesterday to look for some moose and this one was nice enough to sit still long enough to let me snap a few good pics. People are stupid though, I pulled up and stayed behind the nose of my truck and put a buffer between me and the animal and as soon as I spotted her and pulled over a bunch of cell phone photogs pulled over, got out of their cars and were pretty much walking right up to her and snapping photos. I know what a 1,000 pound animal can do to you, so I kept my distance and was waiting...and little excited to get the action shots of a moose tearing into someone. I was seriously waititng for this one guy to walk down, put his arm around her and pose for a shot. IDIOTS! Oh, and it snowed yesterday too.
