Get the damn light off camera. She's deserves it. Get a cheap flash, radio trigger, shoot through umbrella and stand. Under $200. You'll make killer images with her, guaranteed. You are beyond lucky to have a great looking and willing model.

QUOTED IMAGE

Pregnancy session that I did with my wife!

A nice photo but it looks like you focused on her nose, not the eyes. Always focus on the eyes, especially at a shallow DOF. As long as they're in focus, nothing else matters.

Well even before that I would suggest you work on nailing focus. Apart from this one, I saw some of your other pictures and I think half were out of focus. Using one shot AF and selecting your focus point (if you are not already) should improve your focus accuracy noticeably.

Not everyone's wife is willing to pose for them! :)

Thanks for the CC, Joel...I did have it on AF one shot setting, but I'm not sure about how to select the focus point. Will study up on that. I could be mistaken, but I think the camera is acting differently than it once did on focusing...inspite of all my other areas for improvement, focus had not been a big issue until this last shoot, I think.

I have now figured out how to select the center AF point, and will also use alot of manual focusing from now on...thanks again...

Do some experimenting in different lighting to see how effective your outer focus points are. I tend to select an outer focus point for better composition options.
