Thought about selling the 1D but for the price I think its sufficient for my amateur photography sessions. Selling my 5D instead. Its in the classifieds if you search my name.

If you're not going to mod your packs, and thinking of throwing them out or something... give them to me. :D

I'll pay the shipping!!!! :)

I'm in the process of modding one.

Time I added to this group again.Seems like most of the people on these forums are waxing on about the 7D, 5D111 ,1Dx etc while I appear to be going in the oposite direction ,this time its way way back to 1955 with a Minolta TLR and Western Master light meter, have had lots of fun cleaning and lubricating this old vintage beast to the stage that every thing now works as designed, lots of fun.
I am taking photos of lots of stuff with both my 1D +24-70 and the old Minolta so I can compare .
the other photo is Mr 4 and the lastest member of the family young Simba Dog taken this afternoon in our back yard on a beautiful winters day .

Love my 24-70L on this body. My daughter on the back deck of our home this afternoon ,used a 380ex for a bit of fill .I find that I can crop these files quite a bit if you are careful and expose correctly.

Just an update. I picked up a 1D2 and 1D2N, and they come with Canon NP-E3's.

I just have to say that, the Canon packs are really really good. They're such troopers.
When it's shows low power on the indicator, I turn the camera off for a while. Turn it back on, and it's full again, and I continue shooting for the rest of the day.

I guess there's a reason why they cost so much.

Are 1D Mark II bodies (non-N) still repairable? Anyone had one serviced in the last few months or talk with repair techs about the future of parts availability lately? I know Canon recently stopped supporting them.

You can get parts from eBay and independent places can still work on them, but official OEM support has been dropped.

Kelly - EOS 5D - EOS 40D - Rebel XS - EOS 10D - EOS 1D - SX230 - AE-1 - OM-1n - Minolta Himatic7 - EOS-1N
ABR800 - Several flashes, remote triggers, stands, too many and yet not enough lenses

I ask because I purchased a 1D a few weeks ago from a well-known, well respected used equipment dealer. The camera had to be sent back because the focusing was off, and they were able to verify this once they got the camera back. And it's not repairable according to Canon; the dealer actually sent it back to them and tried to get it repaired. It came back to the dealer unfixable. Now I'm contemplating going for a 1D II instead...but only if they're going to be readily repairable for a few more years. I'm fine with using independent shops.
