I shot video for 3 years in a row to a drag race club, my work was ahead of its time I had 2 camera angles and every race was covered.
The club was very happy with my work but the last year I did the video a couple of kids bought 1 video and made copies at home and sold them !!
This was somthing the group had no control over but also did not really care that it happened....
The following year I asked if they would do a preorder so that way I was at least paid from the 40 club members who all took the videos.
At that time I was told that a new group of guys wanted to shoot the video and that my preorder process was too complicated and that they have really good gear as well, I used canon gl2's.
They shot a 10 minute youtube video and took preorders for 45 plus people that to this day never saw the video and were ripped off.
I was asked to return and declined.
It was a hard job to shoot races in the heat from 8 am till 7 pm anf go home to 16 or more mini dv tapes and edit 2 camera angles but I thought I was doing the club a favor , the hours long and money was small but I felt we could have a dvd that would sell all year long and help the club grow as well by showing far away racers what setup they had.
06 was the last year and no video has ever been done , my video gear was set aside for photo gear and I now just like to shoot what I want and till this "everbody is a pro" blows over I will just go out and have fun.
There is a woodpecker that has never seen an hd slow motion video of himself and maybe I will give him a copy if he promises to not make copies and sell them....
