In a sense, yes. The hipster culture (not knocking it) is stealing many things from the 80s and the early 90s and calling it new again. Though, I suppose this is nothing new looking at each generation. Spent some time at the Seattle Folk Life Festival this last weekend, and looking at the youth there (there was a lot of youth there)...hippies are still stuck in the 60s and 70s...but the hipsters are a smash of 70s, 80s and 90s...and usually it's a combination of the worst of the worst fashion choices. Also to note is the choice for eyewhere, the bigger, thicker and more absurd the better.

Fashion, music, and pop culture in general tends to recycle itself every 20 years or so. It's been like this for the past century.
