From Canon Watch: (external link)

Canon EOS-3D

  • 30+ megapixels, 1D-class body
  • 61-point AF system, major functions same as 1DX
  • Equipped with flash (or speedlite transmitter)
  • Perhaps equipped with the first 4K movie recording function?
  • Dual Digic5+ processors for 6 FPS
30+ MP AND 6fps? I can only imagine how much this would cost and how pissed 5DIII users would be. :D

cost?

i'm talking to my first born son about how much he'd enjoy being a slave in a Canon factory. He's apprehensive, but given Canon's release schedule I figure I've got at least 2 years to keep badgering him.

These specs seem to describe a 1Ds replacement which I thought Canon said wasn't going to happen.

About damn time.....release it without video not all of us want it, there's a reason 5D Classics are 800-1000 dollars still

I've seen this comment a million times.

I'm assuming you still want liveview, right? After all it's extremely useful for fine-tuning focus. Well, video is a zero cost add-on. You don't like it, don't use it.

I am thinking this will be a 1D type replacement body under the 1Dx... The 1Dx being the fast, sport camera while this "3D" will be for studio, landscape people with such high resolution. Don't be surprised when you see a $5000-6000 price tag. I doubt you will see many 5D3 for sale, honestly. Only those who are interested in the 1D series (and price) who wanted more resolution.

Agreed, i won't really get rid of mine. If it's going to be in the price range, it'll be too expensive for me to swallow. But it would be nice to know we have a high MP dslr from Canon at least.
