Actually, let's say the free space is divided in thirds, I'd leave one third behind and two third in front. It let the viewer the impression that the boat/car/dog is coming into the picture instead of going out. It's also more pleasing to the eye.

As always, as with every photography rule, so you can break it however you want. :p

thanks... here..

Actually Vinz, here's how I would have cropped it. It's a matter of personal taste, but liked the closer crop from the 1st.

EDIT: Looks like you changed your picture by the time I put this one up. I think both are great.

that's what i thought too... my last crop made the subject far away and smaller.

Got the idea though, thanks much.

Tonight I had to make a decision. I wanted to upgrade from my XTI. It was between T2i, T3i, and 60D. I decided to purchase the 60D. Anyone have any good reads or websites for the camera (obviously I will read this thread). I am looking forward to getting out this weekend and playing with the new camera!

one of my new top faves from you Meg ~

Thanks! It was kind of funny, met a friend of a friend, and within 10 minutes I was like "hey, can I borrow your hands?" :D

Random one for today, sorry I didn't get pics of the cute puppies in the building office so I can't keep up with the dog theme. :)
