I need an advise on this one please. I have an upcoming photoshoot in this same location and time of day.

Here's one of our model for a test shot without diffuser.

Do you think i need to use a diffuser for the sun?

They're bodybuilders and sometimes the harsh light help define the contour of their muscles.

Do you think the sun is way too harsh? Will the diffuser makes it a lot better? I'm planning to use the sun and reflector only for my lighting.

if you're going to photograph someone laying in the sun, I think it's appropriate that they look like they are laying in the sun

I would use a diffuser anyways, if you don't like it you won't use, but if you need it, it is there.

Remember, that what defines shape is light and shadows, not only light. See his abs, you see the shadow in between, that is what defines them. See the highlight on his chest. Ok, there is nothing to define in that specific location the hightlights, but you don't even see the skin. it just light.

Thanks guyz. The shoot will be moved in the evening. Sunset here is 8:30 approximately.

I might not need diffusion.

Fidelfs,
Thanks for the input especially on what defines shape which is light and shadows as you said.

They're not particularly lying like that. that's just a quick snapshot without modifiers to see the effect and analyze the image.

thanks for your input guys.

In the evening you might want a flash to add some contrast.
