Hi, I posted this in the main forum, but thought I'd ask here as well:

I have always used the "half-press shutter button, focus, hold, recompose, full-press to take the shot" method with my 1DmarkII.

I borrowed the same camera from a friend and I cannot get this method to work. When I recompose, the camera re-focuses (while I'm still holding) before I can "full-press" to take the shot.

I tried adjusting several of the Custom Functions, but just cannot get it to work the same way.

I have a work around using the AE * button, but I'd prefer to keep using my original method, if possible.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or settings.

Thanks!

-Mike

^ AI SERVO is being used. That or, you did not give the camera time to "lock in" focus before recomposing, as a result the AF assumes that the distance is now y, instead of x. (Y being the object that's in the center after recomposure, x being the subject you want to focus on.)

Everyone, I have a problem with my 1D Mark II, and 1D Mark II N with my Sigma lenses.

ALL my Sigma's back focus on the 1D2's.
However, it focuses accurately with Canon lenses. 50 1.8 and 135L.
My Sigma lenses focus accurately with my XTi and 1D classic. So there's no way it's a problem with the lenses, but perhaps some compatibility issue or the 1D2's itself.

Any help is really appreciated.
I really want to get this issue solved. I might take my 1D2's to a service center to have it looked at and serviced if anything.
https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1192204

I've tested the lenses on all my bodies repeatedly, in bright daylight, and indoors. The results are the same from one shot to the next, backfocusing on the 1D2's, and accurate focus on my other bodies, XTi and 1D classic.

Thanks kay188,

I was definitely in ONE SHOT mode and was pressing the shutter button exactly as I would my own 1DmarkII (that's being repaired).

I tried every possible setting option, and no luck. I ended up just using a back button * focus method and it worked pretty well.

I wish these 1d2's would hold their value.. these cameras are absolutely amazing, and are selling for less than t2i's now. :/

Two from MotoGP qualifying at Silverstone today.
I realise the second one is a bit out of focus, but he was going VERY fast, and wasn't that far away!
