I had a similar set up with Canon so I'm quite comfortable shooting with my 50 & 85 f/1.8G. The biggest difference is, Nikon's versions are way sharper wide open and provide less chromatic aberration. +1 Nikon! At least with the 50 1.8 and the 85 1.8, but they do not compare to my 50L or 85L. Also the 35mm f/1.4G is not as poppy color wise as my 35L. Honestly it seems as though all of my images SOOC need more color processing to get the pop that I prefer. But then again the final outcome of images is always a subjective matter and we all like our images to look diferent from how others percieve them. As of right now I prefer the Nikon camera build and IQ but prefer the canon lenses look SOOC. Also I seem to get more keepers with the Nikon AF system. Even with my third party lenses. My name is Andrew and I like Canon's!!!

Youre comparing entry point primes with L primes? If the Nikkor 1.8 lenses are better, Canon will be in big trouble! Canon gear: EOS M, Canonet QL17, SX230HS, S95, SD1200IS

I have a d800E on order and if it doesn't kick the booty it will be sold off. I am in no race to produce images and film is cheap.

Since you aren't comparing your own shots you can't really make a comparison. I still shoot some film and it's not for lack/depth of color from digital.

I don't think there is any comparing the two.
