Good idea Dr.D, was thinking about a starting a thread like this myself but thought it would go over better from someone with a bigger following

Nice lilly! Be a bit careful overcooking the sharpness (evident in the halo produced by the dark stamens on the yellow background).

I like the effect of the water droplets. Are they morning dew, or bottle spray?:D

So I think I'm starting to get used to shooting in full manual mode and all the other adjustment modes besides full auto or CA. However, shooting with the 50mm f/1.8 which is supposed to be a super sharp lens, I always, always get blurry results. Should I have a faster shutter speed, and put my ISO higher?

Only if you are a friend of the 60D, or a friend of an owner...;) Even a N%k&n, but be warned, it's going to be brutal experience...:p

I feel that it is a loss for the community every time a 'regular' 60D owner moves on. I like to see photos from people that I got to know and like their work and personally, it doesn't bother me if they use a Canon or a Holga... If they have something to say.

The 50 f1.8 can be a tricky lens, especially in low light.

Start by doing a test in broad daylight... Something like this (shot with the 50 at f2.0)

My target (I focused and then recomposed at the upper corner of the Hughes book). If the photo is blurry everywhere, try shooting at high speed (say 1/1000... that's when you need plenty of light)

If it is still blurry, try tripod, live View, Manual Focus at 10x magnification, mirror lockup and delayed shutter release again at high speed. If you still have a problem, I am afraid the lens may have a problem, or the camera/lens combined tolerances are off.

Yes, anybody that wants to get C.C., have their photo edited, get feedback on bussiness cards, compare pics from one camera to the other or just be part of one of the fastest moving, friendliest threads. I saw that a bunch of people mentioned that if the post in other threads such as C.C. or specific camera make they never got anything back, so if you have something post it up. I still think since most of us are 60D users or former users it'll remain most of us, but I'm open to seeing how other cameras perform. Plus I think since it has 60D users in the title I think most won't post in here unless they are thinkig of owning, past user or current. I just bought a T1i last night so I don't have to keep switching lenses, and I'm sure I'll want to share some of my photos from it, but don't want to limit myself to what I can share on the 60 thread and don't see a whole lot of movement on the T1i thread. I guess anything goes other than the naked stuff, and if you want us to comment on that post the link with a NSFW.

I guess the stuff I don't really want to see is really unrelated stuff like "what car should I buy or what's the best monitor for gaming" So I guess not everthing goes, but if it's something realted to photography like I'm starting a bussiness and looking at a Chevy Aveo to carry my gear in, will it have enough room for my light stands etc. then that's ralated and totally game. Just common sense stuff and if you're being a idiot I'm sure we'll tell ya. :P

Just to make it a bit more friendy here if you have a photo of you enjoying your hobby post it up.
This will be the theme of the day and tomorrow the first to call a theme we'll do that. If you don't have a pic for the theme no worries post up what you have, but if you have something please post it up.

Maybe try posting a couple samples with the EXIF data intact so we can see what you're trying to shoot and how you're trying to shoot it. :)
