From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_of_Grief (external link)

Angel of Grief is an 1894 sculpture by William Wetmore Story which serves as the grave stone of the artist and his wife at the Protestant Cemetery, Rome.

A replica located in Palo Alto, California was made in 1901 to honor Henry Lathrop, brother to Jane Stanford, Stanford University co-founder, but was severely damaged in the San Francisco earthquake of 1906, leading to its replacement in 1908. After years of neglect, the 1908 replacement was fully restored in 2001.[1][2]

This style of monument is also referred to as "Weeping Angel."

Lightroom 4.1 still produces haloing under certain conditions... namely - BIF with a blue sky background

I find it quite hard to avoid as well, especially when the image is cropped.

I have a question. I'm cuurrently putting together the funds for a 60d and a Tamron 17-50 2.8 non-vc and I was wondering if the Tamron is a better option than any of the kit offerings available with the 60d . I notice that quite a few of you use that combo and was wondering what your experience has been with both lenses.

I've found the same as well in some situations. This is why I still have version 3 installed on my machine which I find better for some shots.

Great shot BTW Will :)

I find it funny that the weeping angel was the last thing posted right before page 666. Booga booga!

There's been a little lull in my shooting lately so here's a couple to let you know I haven't gone missing.

This weekend I'll be in Indianapolis for the Road Rockets Rumble. Big annual outdoor car show with tons of kustoms and tradional hot rods, live bands, interesting people and maybe even some spiked watermelon if we get there early enough! Oh, and I'll try to remember to take my camera.

Went on a photo walk today in Central Park with the NYC-Photographers group.

Before we started, a young lady asked me to take her phot with an... iPhone!

In return I got these... (already posted in the other 60D thread ;)..)

https://photography-on-the.net …116&posted=1#post14589116

Glad I bumped into a fellow 60Der on the photo walk. I had a great time. Thanks for the coffee and company Gerry. I will be posting my pictures up once I get my computer back up.

Dan, I've been waiting for your photos. It will be interesting to compare your viewpoint with mine, considering we walked together and saw/shot the same things. I am not talking about whose photos are better, but how somebody else sees, composes and post-processes the same (more or less) subject.

I've seen the photos that other members of the group posted and some of them are nearly identical to mine, some are totally different.

For the rest of you guys, who don't know what we are talking about, Dan (dlsfever), Carey (careyst) and his beautiful wife Maiko and I participated in a photo walk in Central Park. Soon after the start, we realized that we are also fellow POTNers, so we walked and shot together and had a great time trading ideas about shots, panning technique etc.

This is the page of the photo walk

If you click at the photos, you can either browse them as a slide show, or by clicking 'see all photos' to the right of the slide show screen, you can review and click on thumbnails.

of course it depends on how many posts per page we have it set at. Ironically - this is post 999 for me

Edit: "Page" 999 for me, not 'post'
