I guess I don't notice the weight of the 24-70L, never used a 24-105, but I am so used to carrying a 70-200 or a 400 around at the track that smaller lenses that are considered hefty don't bother me...this past weekend I had two gripped bodies and two lenses on at all times...

If you think you need a little wider at times, the 17-55 is good, but it will suffer on reach compared to the other two...there is no one perfect lens IMO...three is about the minimum I would think.

i recently acquired a blackrapid sling, though i havent put much use to it, i think it would manage the weight well. if i were to decide on the 24-70, i think i would augment it with a WA down the road. heard good things about the tokina 11-16, which would be great for indoor group shots considering it is a 2.8. unless i win the lotto, then its the 16-35mm for me :p

group shots with UWA like the Tokina and the Canon 10-22...have issues with distortion, at least in my use. I try to avoid using my 10-22. I would like to get my hands on a 16-35 MKi, but they are hard to find lately.

Tokina 11-16 is a great lens. Sometimes indoors you're limited and it's a cross between a shot and no shot...

But I really liked it for indoor handheld architecture and museum shots without flash.

I use my 10-22 a lot for architectural work.

Hey 50D shooters, just out of curiosity. What's the maximum ISO you feel comfortable shooting at? I see some amazing/clean shots on here at ISO 1600, but I only feel comfortable around 1000.

Christian, I actually was right down as far as I could go on the walkway near the Adler Planetarium, very accessable, tons of parking late at night, just gotta pay a buck or two to have 15-30 minutes to shoot, probably my favorite spot on the southern half of chicago to view the city... my all time favorite spot though is at Montrose Harbor up north, it's farther from the actual downtown area, but it's an amazing spot, just far enough to feel slightly detached from the hustle and bustle of downtown, but close enough to be mesmerized by the vast skyline, here are two shots from there

P.S. I've shot at 1600 and had keepers for sure but I'd rather not go over 1000 unless realllly necessary
