How often do you have your camera with you?

Not often at all. I've been really lazy. If I'm going to use it I want it to count & be somewhere that interests me photographically but getting to such a location costs money & time. I'm not going to go out into my yard & take photo's of flowers just for the sake of it, that's boring.

I don't regret buying my gear though. It's like having a luxury car that doesn't get driven often but is lovely to own.

The DSLR? Not that often. The recently acquired GF2 and/or E-M5? Far more often, usually paired with a pancake lens. Because they fit in a pocket and the 5DII does not.

Simple, really.

Not often enough is the answer, pretty much only when intentionally heading out to shoot something and hardly ever have a camera on me just in case.

I have a G9 that I used to keep in the car, maybe I should pop it back in the glove box.

I used to have an SLR with me all the time. But that got to be a pain because you can't always bring it in some places (e.g. movie theatre) and I didn't want to leave it in a hot car. I have an Olympus XZ-1 with me almost always when I don't have the big guns.

If I don't have the SLR with me, I've got my Oly XZ-1 close by!

(hah just noticed joedlh has one too! Great little camera innit?)

It's with me almost 24/7 and I'm just a hobbiest. And my 70-200 is always attached. (who says its too heavy? Lol). Seriously. Grocery stores, bars, work, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. I think people in town refer to me as "the creepy camera guy". Lol

I used to pack mine everywhere I went. But then I realized that I always drove past anything that wasn't lit properly. Instead I would take a note of the light i would want something in and actually return when the conditions were right. Sure, I may miss a bear, or a turkey, or something interesting but I doubt I'm going to miss something that hasn't been photographed better hundreds or thousands or times. So I eventually quit carrying mine.

The small size is the attraction to these awesome models. What lens do you use?

In my car the minute I leave home. Whether off to the shop for a milk or holiday, you never know what can one up. The one time I didn't take it, a opportunity arose where I needed the camera.

I generally don't carry around the DSLR but many times the cell phone camera is not enough - maybe I need a smaller mirrorless camera system

The S5 rides with me every where I go. I do not carry it on my person all day while I am out. The 40D goes on longer trips and always when I know there will be opportunities for keeper images.

I'm just starting to use my PowerShot once again. I just started riding my bike again (after 5 years of it being locked up in my shed) and I'm thinking I'll try and bring the PowerShot with me when I go out on the bike. Should be fun and it gives me a reason to take photos and ride my bike at the same time.

I carry mine only for 3 things; a paid assignment, which is usually about 15 times a month, fishing, which is as often as possible, and when I'm with the grandkids. The rest of my time is spent doing something I don't particularly enjoy (sitting in front of the computer).

Nah, I use my Delta 88 and my .44 Magnum for that kind of stuff stuff.
